Lent approaches
Lent, when we remember how Jesus spent 40 days in the desert and prepare for Holy Week and Easter, is nearly upon us.
In 2008, Bishop David is encouraging people across the Diocese of Birmingham to join him in forty days of prayer. The booklet Too Deep For Words – Praying with Jesus gives suggestions for prayer and reflection for each day of Lent. Copies are available after any of our services until Ash Wednesday and are free of charge.
On Ash Wednesday (6th February 2008) there will be a service of Holy Communion at St. Nicholas at 7.30 p.m.
Bishop David has also asked each parish to open their church building for prayer on at least one day during Lent. St. Nicholas Church will be open on Saturday, 1st March 2008 from sunrise to sunset – 6.40 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.
