Cycle Races, Sunday 23rd November

Solihull Cycling Club will be holding their annual cyclo cross races in Elmdon Park on Sunday 23rd November from 8.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.  In previous years this has caused some problems with parking for the 10.30 a.m. service at St. Nicholas. It would be a good idea to share lifts, if possible, in order to reduce the demand on parking space.

Music Group

The music group will meet again on Sunday 16th November after the morning service at St. Nicholas (approx. 12.30ish). We will learn two new songs which will be used at the Parish Communion service on Advent Sunday, so all are welcome, whether or not you play a musical instrument. Please bring your own music stand if you plan an instrument and also let Ruth Chamberlain know if you require music.

Birmingham Concert Band

Birmingham Concert Band will be at St. Stephen’s Church Centre on Monday 15th December.

Come and join us for carols and mince pies. Tickets are £5 each.

Children’s Christmas Craft Workshop

at St. Stephen’s Church Centre on Sunday 14th December from 3-5 p.m.

The cost will be £2 per child; please bring a shoe box with you if possible.

Download a booking form.

Sunday Fun Club

The Sunday Fun Club at St. Stephen’s Church Centre next meets on Sunday 23rd November from 3.30 - 5.00 p.m.

All children welcome - come along and join in the games, fun and handcraft.

50p per child.

Cake Sale

There will be a cake sale after the Parish Communion service on Advent Sunday, 30th November to raise money towards the support of our CMS Link Mission Partners, David and Dawn Curran. To date nearly £800 has been raised or donated towards the £1,000 (minimum) which the Church has promised for 2008.  Gift Aid envelopes are available for those who wish to make donations specifically for CMS.

Christmas Gifts 2008

Again this year we will  be supporting the work of the Birmingham City Mission. From November onwards there will be boxes in the Wilberforce Hall at St. Nicholas and both Church Centres to receive gifts for BCM.    They will be presented at the Christmas gift services (7th December at St Stephen’s and 14th December at St Nicholas as part of the All Age Worship and Parade).

BCM have given the following suggestions:

Toys

These should be new and unwrapped.

Toiletries and items suitable for teenagers are particularly welcome.

Food - for use at the resource centre

BCM give out monthly food/basics parcels and the items which they are often in need of are:-

  • Cereals
  • Long life milk
  • Tinned meat or fish
  • Tea
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Toiletries (toothpaste,  toilet rolls,  deodorant, shampoo, shaving foam)

They generally have good supplies of baked beans and soup so if these could be avoided that would be great.   If you wanted to collect food items specifically for Christmas, things like Christmas puddings and mince pies would be gratefully received.
